Victory Park

Via della Pace, 40017 San Giovanni in Persiceto, Bologna
Directions

Just a stone’s throw from the historic centre of San Giovanni in Persiceto, along Via della Pace, lies Parco della Vittoria.

Inside, visitors can admire the sculpture *Don Quixote* by Mario Martinelli, a well-known and highly regarded artist from Persiceto, created in 1971 as a decoration for a Carnival float. The beauty of this work has won over the town’s residents to such an extent that the carnival society ”Il Filo” donated it to the town and, following its recent restoration, it now stands permanently in the park. Amidst the rose gardens and lush vegetation – a natural habitat for many species – you can admire the beautiful white marble sculpture *Archetipo* by Renzo Maggi, an internationally renowned artist. On the western side, the park is bordered by the San Giovanni Canal, an imposing medieval hydraulic structure, where even today one can still see some of the platforms used by washerwomen and the remains of the sluice gates used by the mills.
